Things have really picked up again on the recruiting front here at Storm8. Recently a lot of candidates have been asking me “what does Storm8 have to offer that other companies do not”, or “what separates Storm8 from other mobile gaming companies”. These are excellent questions. You’ll find a lot of start-ups out there (including our competitors) overemphasize their “awesome” laid back work culture, great benefits, free food, cool office space, fully stocked kitchen, happy hours, team outings, and the list goes on and on. Yea, we have those too. :T

However we do have something to offer that a lot of companies do not, and it can be summed up through one game: Bubble Mania.

Bubble Mania (BM) is the perfect example of how much ownership our engineers have over the projects they work on, and we consistently see amazing results. BM was a game we shipped out about a month ago, and within its first three days it had over 1 million downloads. Within just two weeks it had over 1 million daily active users. BM reached the top 10 in the app store, and it’s currently sitting at #20 in the top free category (#40 in top grossing). While the results have been nothing short of amazing what’s most impressive is that this particular game was completely designed and developed by only 2 engineers…in 6 WEEKS!!!

Not to discredit the incredible work done by our production team (pm, producers, game designers, artists, etc) but the fact that this game was built by 2 engineers in just 6 weeks is simply awesome, and that’s the REAL OPPORTUNITY we have here at Storm8 for any engineer that joins us.

Ownership. The opportunity to own products and build it from the ground up. To drive a project from concept to completion. To work in the entire product stack; not just a single layer. To build out all the features of the product; not just a single feature (ie - a button where you can write something on someone’s wall). We break down our teams into groups of 2-3 engineers per project and have releases every 3-4 months, and sometimes 6 weeks. :)
